Utah early archery deer hunt

So, I applied for the August deer hunt in the Central Mountains/Manti unit. A friend of a friend has offered to guide us if we get drawn.

Has anyone on here done that hunt, or been in that area looking for deer?

We should draw same tag.  I haven't hunted Utah in 10 years and never set foot in that unit.  Our plan is to find a place to camp up high off main road and then drop into drainages until we find some deer.  Feel free to pm if you want to share notes.

I was hoping my wife would get to hunt, being a teacher makes it tough to do most out of state hunts.  Unfortunately, Utah has an older grandfather date for hunter safety and she didn't make the cut.
