That's cool. Didn't know that's how you trap weasels.

What kind of a setup is that?

I've never seen any turn white in my area.

a box with a hole drilled in the front. you put the rat trap inside with some beaver meat and the weasel gets killed going in the whole. weather proof set

Isn’t there a dispute right now between the wsta and dfw about the legality of fur trapping with rat traps?

Yes, but as it stands right now, the law states that common rat traps are in fact legal...

I'm pretty sure the dispute you are talking about is whether we can use the Koro rat traps which are different https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWMbnwc_f8A

I spoke with the conflict control specialist from north eastern Washington today on this to be clear. His position is they are not legal and they are waiting for the new director to make a determination. I question then if they are not allowed in the reg's then print an addendum. His response is they are allowed for pest's. Told him I didn't see that in the definitions on the reg's.  He deferred me to the WDFW furbearer specialist in Olympia.
I was also inquiring about this trap which is similar to the wood box trap but a commercial tube the specs are very close only 4.5 inches.

https://www.animaltrapsandsupplies.com/products/tube-trap.html        This could be ordered with restrictor ends to only have a 2 inch opening as well.

It states it was designed as a mink/weasel trap suited for the purpose.  :dunno:

The end caps open both ends or just one.   https://www.wildlifecontrolsupplies.com/animal/TTC.html
