Re-Homing Livestock Guard Dog
« on: January 02, 2019, 09:32:40 AM »
We have a 7 month old 3/4 Anatolian, 1/4 Great Pyrenees Female (not yet spayed) that needs a new home. She would make a great livestock/property protector for someone without any other dogs and without free ranging fowl. Unfortunately for us, she has been getting really protective of us and getting aggressive with our other female dog and also her half brother who we bought at the same time.  She is great with her brother 90% of the time, including during feedings, just not when we are out in the pasture with them both.  That is when she gets protective and won't let him or any other dogs get close to us.  She has never shown any aggression toward people or what so ever and she is actually very gentle and patient with our 3 year old daughter for a puppy.  She is just too protective for us with our other dogs around.  Also, she has killed a couple of our chickens the last couple weeks and despite my efforts to curb the behavior has continued to show interest in them when they wander into the pasture with her.  She does great with our goats and was good with our cows while we had them, just not to be trusted with fowl. She is a great dog that needs a place where she can get the attention she deserves.  I would like to see her go to a home that is serious about getting a quality livestock guard dog, so I am asking a $150 re-homing fee.  I will send her with a full 40# bag of puppy food.   PM me for more information.

I wish I had all my fencing done and was back into the Katahdins, I'd snatch her up.  Good luck!!

Re-homing fee is negotiable as long as I know she is going to a good home.  I would also be willing to deliver her or travel to meet someone half way.  She is a great dog that just needs to find the right home.
