Methow Buck down
« on: October 24, 2007, 12:37:19 PM »
My 75year old Grandpa killed his widest buck of his hunting career on Sunday over in Twisp.  He got one of the early migrators that filtered down.  Its a dandy 4x3, I was told its a hair over 26 wide, all I have is a camera phone picture, I will post it later today, I am very excited for him.  It been some time since he killed one.  He was out on his own hiked up an old closed down logging grade.

ABOSLUTELY COOL!   I can't wait to see the pic.  You want to get me fired up, just say a big Methow buck got it.  I'm all over it.   CONGRATS TO HIM.  I just hope it wasn't out of the Chiliwist. (Thats where my Dad will be hunting in another week!)

Well heres the only picture I got.  Unfortunately I wasnt there, my brother sent me the picture and said it was around 26 outside, not to bad for a 75 year old man.  He is the reason that I hunt today, I was first introduced to Mule deer and the Methow by my grandfather and grew up hunting over there with him and my family.  I was real excited to here that he tagged out.  I dont get to hunt with him much any more because I archery hunt, but on occasion I get over there during the rifle season and get to accompany him.  Hopefully they took some field or camp photos, if so I will post them.  Bone he killed him above blackpine somewhere, when I find out Ill PM where.  The killed 3 bucks 2 smaller 4x4 and this guy.  I would like to have it mounted for him but hes not really into that like me.  He just nails them up on the garage wall and there they collect dust.  He has killed dozens of bucks over there since the sixtys and never had any of them mounted, he just loves to be out in the woods.  Anyways enough ranting heres the picture.

Great buck and even a better story. It reminds us that we all need to be active in getting the younger ones out so we can continue the great tradition of hunting. Tell him congratulations on a awesome buck.
