Truck camper exterior wall vent fix
« on: December 20, 2018, 08:03:41 PM »
I'm wondering if anyone has an idea for a fix for this. I lost one of the two tabs (circled in the picture) that secure the vent flap for when you are driving. I can't find anything online that allows you to buy just a new plastic deal. The new vent assembly is only $12 but than I'm looking a more involved replacement project.

My theory was to fashion something to go on the bottom of the flap. Similar setup as the side vent tabs but larger and easier to access. Maybe just screw it into the bottom of the plastic assembly?

Lucky1 - of course duct tape will be involved!

Huntincouple - while this does not appear to include duct tape I like the idea.  I'll have to take a look at it where I might be able to attach something like that.  Pretty sure that little fan would be able to overcome the magnetic pull.

Make your own out of a small similar shaped piece of stiff plastic. Put it on the bottom where you can get a straight shot to drill a pilot hole for the screw that holds it. Dab a bit of silicone in the screw hole, tighten just enough.

Went camping once in a decent windstorm. We had loosened the two tabs on either side to let the vent work. Middle of the night that cover started flapping in the wind something fierce, making a heck of a racket. Nothing like fumbling around in the dark in a windstorm trying to figure out whats making all the noise.
