NE Wa back up

Looking at a new 10mm for a NE Wa back up gun, got it narrowed down to the Glock 20 and Glock 40, recommendations???  The 40 is longer and kind of a pain in the butt to pack around but would gimme a lil better accuracy, anyways thanks in advance for the input

I went with the 40.  I liked having the option of mounting a red dot and in a kenai chest holster I think the length is negligible. Just a little more weight but very easy to pack around all day.

I went with the 20, liked how it fit my hand and the capacity
shoots well carrys easy

Ive owned both. For a strictly woods carry gun, the 20 is a better option, IMHO

I got the 20. I love it.
Whichever you go, definitely consider GS holsters. 50-75$(depending on the model) cheaper than the kenai, but still a great (some consider better than the kenai) chest holster. They also make normal holsters but the chest one I have for the g20 is fantastic.

I've had a 20SF for several years now and just picked up a 40MOS last week. Havent had time to shoot the 40 yet but it came with a better trigger (still a crappy Glock trigger though). I like the longer barrel/sight radius though with a dot sight the extra radius wont matter. You can get a factory 6" barrel for a 20 if you want the improved ballistics without the extra slide length.
I carry mine in a HPG Kit Bag.

For a backup the G20 is plenty accurate.  I have a G20 and it's a lot to carry, I wouldn't want anything bigger/heavier than that for sure.   

If you go G20 get the plus power magazine springs, mine went south after a few years and I started having feed issues.  heavy magazine springs cured that.  also went with 22# recoil spring and it seems to eat everything from bulk double tap 180's to 220 hard cast from UW, same with 200gr zero issues.  I even stacked different types of rounds in the same magazine to make sure it would eat it all without a hiccup during rapid fire, no issues 

I also have a different barrel from lonewolf and a stainless guide rod for durability.

Revolvers are great for backups.  I carry an 8rnd .357 with a 5" barrel.  If 8 rounds doesnt get me out of a jam i figure im screwed anyway.

I love packing my pmr30, it's so light you hardly know its on you and it has 30 rounds. Perfect for areas infested with large numbers of predators.

Between the G20 and the G40 I'd go with the G20 as a backup. The 40 is just too big to be a good backup gun.

I would get the 20. I prefer the 29 actually but I've shot the 20 and I doubt you will get any defensive advantage with a 40 in a bear attack.

I really wouldn't be too worried about brown bears up there unless you are on the east side of the pend.
