Watt Canyon Feed Station
« on: December 23, 2018, 07:33:41 AM »
Want to take the grandkids for a road trip and see some Elk.  Has anyone been to the Watt Canyon feed station near Thorp recently?  Any Elk?

TIA

None of the other feeding stations have animals as of a day or two ago.  I assume Joe watt is similar.   No snow

if your wanting to see some elk suncadia feeds a small herd at the Nelson dairy. There’s no BIG bulls but several spikes and some rag horns. Mostly cows. Around 50 head.

More likely to see some out by Littlerock, or along the coast between Aberdeen and Raymond.

There are a few way in the back of Watt Canyon. They aren’t actively feeding them although it won’t be long. There’s a little new snow today.  You can see them from the fence but binocs help

Take a drive up hwy 20 between concrete and Woolley ,drive some of the payed paralle roads like Lyman Hamilton.

Elk herds of 20-30 spread along that area every day of the week.

Also cross the river at Concrete and go towards Darington. Elk around the Ovenell Cattle Ranch.

Go to Packwood, there are elk everywhere in town. Grab a burger or pizza while you are there.

Close to home. Between North Bend and Snoqualmie by the golf course. 60 to 100 head every day

I drive the Raymond highway 4 times a week and the elk have been scarce. ..there has been a herd heading towards Menlo in a farmers field for about 3 weeks now..they were there this afternoon

Joe Watt has started feeding. Probably a 100 head there right now. Couple dandy bulls. Gonna run by oak creek this morning I'll try to remember to report back when I get home.
