Question on Idaho
« on: January 07, 2019, 04:34:56 PM »
Hey all  a little confusing reading the regs for Idaho......I'm planning on a DIY OTC elk hunt but I'm not sure if I'm reading the regs right. Do we have to select ONE area or can a guy move from one to another ?  Using this just for an example -----Weiser River area to say Island Park
Thanks for any help

I don't have the reg in front of me (so I can't answer your specific question about Weiser), but you have to choose a "zone".  When you buy a tag for that zone, you can hunt any unit in it.
Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes.  That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

You have to pick one, unless you buy a 2nd tag.

OTC is by zone and zones are usually made up of 2-4 individual hunting units. For example the Lemhi zone consists of units 29, 37, 37A, and 51. A Lemhi zone "A" tag means you can hunt where ever you want in those units Aug 30 - Sept 30 for any elk with archery equipment. If you don't tag out with archery equipment it be used as an OTC muzzy tag for cows Nov 25 - Dec 9 in those same units. Also it can be used as an OTC spike tag in unit 37 Nov 1-7.

Specific unit tags are mostly for the draw. That same zone has no OTC rifle bull tags, so you'd apply to draw a rifle tag for the specific unit you want to hunt in.
