electronic callers
« on: January 13, 2019, 11:23:06 AM »
Did you notice and I presume you did, those callers use some unusual batteries? A23 12 volt??
Not the type of battery you would find at a mom and pop store in some small town.

OK,  I wasn't sure if this was in response to another question or observation, just trying to help.

I use a foxpro I've had for a while, it's a CS24B I got from the foxpro custom shop, I have to use NIMH batteries as regular alkaline AA's won't power it.  I prefer the energizer nimh batteries I get at walmart, they're going strong for 5 year ish now.   Make sure you read carefully on the batteries to make sure they're all matching output.  Some of them are 1800mah, and some are 2400mah.   I like to dig through all the batteries and make sure they're all 2400mah.  I charge them with a tenergy 16bay charger that plugs into a cigarette lighter outlet in the truck, or I use alligator clips and 12v outlet adapter and charge them right off a car battery.  Or I can plug it in the house.

I've recently learned about Kentli batteries, they're 3v lithiums (AA size) with a reducer in the top to make it a true 1.5v battery.  they're expensive, but in applications where you need a true 1.5v battery they're awesome.  they never drop below 1.5v until you run them dry, then they quit all at once.

I just bought a caller that uses A23 batteries. I bought a couple of extra as I don't believe I can find that type just anywhere.

I buy all my batteries on ebay.  Recently scored 456 energizer ultimate lithiums AA for $400.  Compare that with a 4 pack being somewhere around $10 at a safeway or walmart

Google is your friend.
Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot. They are a fairly common battery used in many item's

The A23 battery (also known as 23A, 23AE, GP23A, V23GA, 8LR932, LRV08 , 8LR23, MN21, L1028 or ANSI-1181A) is a dry cell-type battery mainly used in small electronic keychain radio devices, such as keyless vehicle entry systems, home security systems, garage door openers, and Bluetooth headsets.

Yep, I just bought a couple at Home Depot. However, I checked at Walmart first, and they did not have them.

What I meant to say was "What if your last battery dies and you are way out in the middle of nowhere?"
