Game Chasers

Just watching this TV show, this older guy and gal go after elk that sure seem tame to me. The bulls spot them and just stand there looking at them
The gal shoots hers and its a hawg, but I cant help noticing how white the rack is, obviously nothing darker the aspens they are hanging out in for them to rub on. This hunt has high fence written all over it. Commercial right now, cant wait to see this guy go after his bull with his bow. Oh ya, I've seen all kinds of bulls, not one cow

I just watched it. He non-shilontly walked past a Bull and when he stands up he shot him!!! It is in Saskatchewan. Thats the first clue for a High Fence Hunt for Elk.

I watched that same show today... Every elk they see is at least a 5x5 bull lol. He even said, "The bull spotted us so I started walking like I didn't see him and i was just out for a stroll." Yea right. Thats a little fishy.

It's very peculiar that you never see any cows throughout whole show, just small groups of monster bulls! Hmm...very interesting! The bull that the gal shot probably had a price tag of around 15 grand!

My son and I watched that yesterday. We watch as the guy walks up on a bedded bull, it stands up quartering away and looks at him all the while he draws and shoots. My son asks "why couldnt you do that dad". I just smiled. Obviously those elk have never seen pressure from anything.

On some of these ranches the bulls are purchased first buy picture or score and then released onto the ranch. That's why some of them look so out of it. They are still coming off of the drugs. DEFINATLEY not fair chase.

Reminds me of what happened at work a few years ago. A lady I worked with brought in a photo album of her husband's "kills" on his guided hunts because she knew I was a hunter and she thought I would enjoy them. I marvelled at trophy after trophy of various types of animals and then when I ask how much he usually paid for guide fees and her answer was around $15K, I pressed a little further and found out that his exploits amounted to high fence hunting. Oh jeez, you've got to be kidding me...I lost interest immediately.

Lol! Ya, that's about where I lose interest as well! Back in February, at the Yakima Sportsman's Show, there was an outfitter selling elk hunts in the McCall area. Their booth consisted of hundreds of pictures of these monster bulls that were killed by clients, which immediately spurned my inquisitive nature. Come to find out, this particular ranch was a high-fence operation on 2000 acres of land!!!!!! I walked away in disgust...
It didn't look like they had a shortage of paying customers though...Looked like they were pretty well off.
I bet they don't have problems with wolves! Lol

What amazes me is how many of these hunts are on TV.

high fence shooting isnt hunting.it gives hunters a bad name.people who do it are not hunting .they are walking/driving up to animals and shooting them.squeezing a trigger isnt hunting.it maybe part of hunting but its a small part.

sparksbr, the area you are referring to is in Riggins ID about 1hr 15min drive away from McCall heading north. It's a high fenced hunt called mountain view ranch or something of that nature! (grin) They do have some huge bulls there & from time to time you can see them off the road.
