18 months of hell
« on: January 18, 2019, 05:35:28 PM »
I couldn't resist.  We already have four hounds, the oldest is 11, two 7 yr olds, and a 5 year old.  It was time to keep the line going and rebuild.

We bred my 5 yr old (she's out of my 11 yr old) to a buddies dog and got a good litter, they all went to hunting homes.  I was undecided until this week and finally caved in and decided to keep her.  I hope she turns out as good as the rest of the dogs.  It's going to be a project for a few years.

She's already been packed to two lion trees. :)

Meet Kula.

One of the trees had a pretty good one in it.

That is a healthy cat!

Did she tree the cat on the lawn chair all by herself?  :chuckle:

She has moved up to bigger cats!  I think this little hound is going to be really good.  I always say it take five years to actually finish a dog.  They can run and catch cats before that, but it takes a long time for them to to learn everything they need to be truly finished.

She's a beaut and will be lucky to have a great working hound's life.
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Great looking dog! Have you been to Idaho or anywhere else to harvest a cat this year? Or are you just doing bio work?

I guided a few hunts in Idaho, but I don't care to shoot a cat.  Most of the treed cats are just for pictures and dog training

Awesome! I have no need to shoot a cat but love watching hounds. I'd definitely like to get into running hounds someday in the future. I know this is off topic but what college did you go to and what did you major in?

I did my undergrad in at Simpson College in Iowa and majored in Environmental Science and Biology then came to Washington for work.  Then got my Masters at Univ Idaho in Natural Resource Management
