Somewhere around 100 I’d guess.   Let us know if you have any questions on the scoring process.   It’s a lot of fun. Enjoy!

I think I was pretty accurate with the way I scored it (not perfect obviously lol) but it was just shy of 100. What is the reason they would deduct about 5 inches on a pretty much perfectly typical buck?

The deduct gets you your net score.  Some will say nets are for fish and gross is what it is all about.

FYI that is a great first deer.  Most everyone would be more than thrilled to have that as their first deer.  I don't think there are many that would pass that up any day of the season.

Now the bar is set.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Gotcha.  Great first Muley then.  You should try whitetail next.  They are fricking delicious.  I am a mule deer guy myself just because of location and the thrill of the hunt.  I have shot all three and as far as table fare goes whitetail is my favorite.  Blacktails are the toughest to kill in my opinion and spot and stalk mule deer hunting is just a blast.

Nice.  That’s the system.   It is what it is.   Symmetry is certainly rewarded.   Now that you’ve had a taste of it, it will be fun to look over a lot of other racks.

Like Bone said the Boone and Crockett, Pope and Young scoring awards for Symmetry between sides and between each point with deductions. Being a typical alone is only one small part of the overall score. Having long tines and deep forks with symmetrical points is what you are looking for! SCI scores for overall inches without deductions. BTW I thought your buck would go around 100-105 nice first muley.

I have a blacktail with a similar frame that is over 105 gross & over 100 net (can’t remember exactly or find my sheet) but I’m thinking your light on your score you came up with.😎
