Been looking at doing a tuna trip out of Westport for a while now. All the boats kelly you tons of tuna. When you ask them a lot of Q’s it seem to be only3-5 fish. This has changed me wanting to do a tuna trip. So now I’ve been looking at a Halibut trip. They all go out and fish about the same. However they tell me only 1/2 the boat gets to fish and the other 1/2 watches. When they catch thief fish the other 1/2 gets to fish. So if I’m the 2nd half i might not get to fish at all. I think I’ll stick to bottom fishing wher you know you’ll get to fish with a very good chance of your limit
Ace, that's not quite how it works with halibut. Normally they will do a drift and on the next drift switch. On smaller boats typically everyone is fishing or 4/6 lines in per drift. As for tuna, hey that's fishing. Some days you may end up with 90-120 fish between 6 people. It all depends on how efficient you are. When the bite is on you can pile them into the boat. Other days no fish are to be found, I have gotten skunked with a 220 mile round trip run.Quote from: Ace on January 20, 2019, 06:05:53 PMBeen looking at doing a tuna trip out of Westport for a while now. Talk to Cap'n Kerry with offshore northwest. He runs 2 six pack boats and does both halibut and tuna.
Talked to Tod. He’s full. Looking for someone else
I have a fe halibut seats left out of Ilwaco right now...very few.... and it depends on quota like everywhere else...I may offer 2 day neah bay packages for May 23 and 26th but not sure yet.I am booking tuna Aug 1 through sept 30 full boat is best, 4 seat minimum to reserve a date and I only bill the party leader not individuals.I am making a list of "individuals" and the dates they want to go to see if I can group some people together but its hard to do to be honest….full boat is your best bet to insure the trip happens.
Check out Mark Youngblood, I have not fished with him but know others who have and recommend him. He is a site sponcer.
Contact Kerry Allen with Offshore Northwest. Two boats this season - a 28ft Parker with twin 300's and a new 35ft Coldwater with twin 300's Yamahas was added last month. It is a large walk around - so all clients fish at the same time. Kerry's number is - 253-380-9973. Starting to book pretty good. Not sure if Halibut - out of LaPush is full yet, but check with Kerry. Tuna out of Westport is definitely not full yet. It is the first year for this boat to be added to Offshore Northwest, serious sweet ride. All new rods and reels - Trasher Rods and Siegler Reels. If you need more information give Kerry a call.
