How do you get a live primer out of an empty shell?  Mike w

The same way you'd get a spent primer out.

Primers have enough energy to rip apart a case.  Face shield leather gloves, heavy clothing.

Or just fire it in the gun and remove as normal.

I've removed many and never had an issue.

I've removed one and did.  I'd sooner throw it out.

Yep. Will shoot them in the gun. Some r 300 short mags and I dont have that gun. Guess I will have to buy one 2 clean the brass. Lol

Ive removed plenty that way and never had a problem.  If you are worried about it, you can shoot it I guess.

Try googling "removing live primers." You'll find plenty of discussion on the subject.

In my 35 years of reloading, I'd guess that I've removed 30 to 40 live primers. No problem. I even reused some of the priners, but not for hunting loads.

How about a universal decapping die? Sure is a handy die to have.

In a pinch, you could just overextend the spindle downward from almost any die.  I've done that before I had a decapping die. Never had one go off before.

My Dad DID manage to try annealing a .45-70 case with a live primer one time.  He jumped out of his shoes
