I’ve removed lots of live primers, just ran them through my universal de cap die. Nothing bad will happen even if one goes off. It’ll just make a loud pop noise. But I’ve never had any go off doing that.

Recapping  die is the ticket for punching out all forms of primers.  Never had one pop.  I've popped a few with a hand primer on some 5.56 brass with crimped primer pockets before.  That'll make a guy jump

I’ve never had an issue either and re used most.  If your worried about it get them wet first

Theres nothing creating pressure so nothing is gonna explode on you.  That big opening at the top called a case mouth kind of let's the games out

Yeah, I had one go off a long time ago.  Mostly just a little pop.  It did turn my finger tips black, but dish soap fixed that.

I have the Lee Universal Decapping Die and knocked out atleast 50 live primers with no problem. I think you really have to use quick brunt force to make them go off.

You probably should wear eye protection when knocking out live printers just in case one does go off.

I have removed many live primers. I have had a Federal 215M primer go off in a RCBS press. While priming a .300 Win mag case. A bit loud other than that no other damage or concerns.

I've only ever had to do this once. It happened to be my very first attempt at hand loading and ya I got my very first primer inserted backwards 
I just threaded out the decapping pin so that it was quite long and gently ran the ram up unit the primer was pushed out. Started over and have never had a problem since.
