trigger upgrade for DPMS Oracle?
« on: January 26, 2019, 05:01:03 PM »
Got my wife an AR-15 for Christmas.

Went to sight it in today.    Pretty accurate little rifle.   Fun.  No complaints.

But you do get what you paid for and the trigger is really heavy.

I'd like to replace it, but not spend a ton of money.

Any suggestions on an AR trigger that wont break the bank.

Geiselle SSP A little spendy but very good trigger.

I have a couple CMC 3-3.5lb triggers in AR's and for $130 I think they are hard to beat.  Mine break right at 3lbs and have a very crisp and clean pull.

I have heard good things about Larue MBT as well, though I have not tried them.
At that price it would be hard to beat.

Depends the only way your gonna get a 3lb trigger for cheap is to do some work .Othewise I recommend just buying a drop in setup.

Add these two parts together, then follow YouTube link.

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/407819/ar-stoner-enhanced-trigger-group-ar-15-lr-308-small-pin-154-single-stage

https://www.midwayusa.com/product/698675/jp-enterprises-enhanced-reliability-trigger-spring-kit-ar-15-3-1-2-lb

Basic use these parts together ,take a fine wet sand paper and polished parts ,gun oil,and you will have 3lb trigger .

Go with a Giesele sde if you have a military type pistol grip or a SSAe if you have something like a magpul that gives you a little more reach.  Give me a ring , there are a bunch of ARs laying around here that we can take out and shoot for a week or two if you want to.  I have a bunch laying arouund and almost have Geisele triggers in them.  They are bullet proof and are just fine, unlike some of the cartridge trigger groups.  Brownells sells a cheaper version that is a bit more complicated on the instal.  But it is fine.  I say, go with the enhanced over the heavier trigger because it will be fine.  Giselle triggers are robust and the lighter pull is not an issue with them.  Unlike some others.

If you want me to do the instal that is no problem.  I've been screwing around with ARs again lately and we could even put a Geisele trigger in your wife's rifle for a day if you want to.  I have a couple laying around for future entertainment. I buy them when anyone has a fire sale and I have the cash.

I've said ARs are easy peasy in the past and been pilloried for saying that, but it is the truth.  They are easy to FUBAR though.  There are a LOT of really slick AR triggers out there now, the AR is a dirty rifle and its crud causes a lot of problems in fine machinery and Geiselle has a healthy respect for that dynamic, some others don't.

Thanks all.

Some great advice.

Welcome back, JD.   I might take you up on your offer.   I actually just want to tr one with a good trigger.

That DPMS is pretty stinking accurate with such a hard trigger.  I imagine a quality trigger would make it hum.

Dan,

Next time you're over, try a couple of mine that are set up w/ Geissele.

The Geissele trigger are hard to beat honestly. but I also like the Spikes enhanced/battle triggers. They are just a little lighter and a little smoother then standard milspec. They are about $60.

I can't see putting an 2-300 dollar trigger on a DPMS budget gun  :dunno:

What about PSA enhanced polished trigger, add in a 3.5 spring and it'll set you back about $50
it's not a horrible trigger for the $

Everyone seems to love the Larue trigger and it's only $87. I got one of their upper kits coming. Knowing I won't have to switch the trigger out is a real nice bonus.

Yup sand paper does great work on many kinds of triggers!

I just put one in my recent AR Pistol build
It's an extremely nice trigger for $87 . I would put it right up there with my Geissele's .
