Nutria Bounty
« on: January 27, 2019, 08:36:01 AM »
We hunt on Puget Island quite a bit and I have shot quite a few nutria but just kinda tossed em in the bushes. I have heard about an $8 bounty for the tail from somebody with the diking district I think? Does anybody know if this program is still running, or who is in charge, where to turn in tails? Thank you

We have some property on the island, and it’s my understanding that the program is still in place, but I haven’t looked into it. I’d probably start by calling the county office in Cathlamet to see if they can point you in the right direction.

Some mighty good eating there, your throwing in the brush.   Andrew Zimmerman did a show that included nutria, a lot like rabbit.  I used to trap muskrats and save all the hind legs, absolutely delicious stewed with onions and served with dumplings and sweet & sour red cabbage.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Make mine a Minaska

Ok thank you, I'll look into it. And maybe I'll need to give the meat a chance, a giant rat can't be that bad :)
