Which waders

Right now I'm using the Caddis Max-5 DuraStretch Neoprene. Got em for 99 bucks on black Friday 4 years ago. Used them extensively for 3 seasons so far. Nice in the winter but I was sweating like a pig in the beginning of the season.

I looked at the foot boot on the gator waders the tread pattern won't work for where I'll do most of my hunting. I like the Frogg Toggs Grand Refuge 2.0 Extreme but they are out of stock and said they won't get them until the end of this year.

I like the frog toggs too! And the Simms tributaries are great wading boots with them!

Anybody who gets 3 years out of waders and is a avid duck hunter I give you my applause!! 2 years is my longest!! With fishing and duck hunting 2 years is great!! I have had them all and nothing seems to last by the end of second duck season there is something always wrong!!

If I had the opportunity to hunt enough to wear out a set of waders in 2 years I would be one happy dude !!

I can get 3 years with 20-25 hunts per year.  With a bit of shoe goo and tolerance for small leaks it’s very doable.

Yep. I forgot to mention that I'm also tolerating small leaks to stretch the life out of mine!

You lost me at small leaks. 

Depends on how small of a leak we are talking. One where a small spot underneath is damp when I take them off is ok but I have spent too many days finding a leak on the hike OUT to the spot and having to stand all day with a wet foot or feet. January in the Columbia basin with wet feet sucks!

Ordered a pair of Dryft waders for fishing, should be here sometime this week. They are from Bellingham and I've heard good things about their waders so I'm going to give them a shot!

If you wear neoprene waders, I figure you are going to come back damp one way or another, either from sweat or from small leaks.  I don't stand in water except maybe 1-2 times a year so I use them to get where I am going, set and retrieve decoys and then I'm up on dry land for the most part.

If you are wet under neoprene, it's actually warmer than if you are dry.  Your body heat will heat the water and it will be a great insulator.  This is how wetsuits work, I would stay overly warm diving in December and have a pretty big layer of water between the neoprene and my skin all the time.

That, and I'm cheap when it comes to buying waders.  If I threw them away everytime there was a tiny leak I would go through a pair every 10-20 hunts at least and I don't go through nasty stuff very often.

Anyone have any luck with the Hodgmans breathables?  I'm limited to what Cabelas/Bass Pro have online.  Burning my last gift card.  Frogg Togg, Simms tributary and Caddis all seem to be in the 150-175 price range I'm looking to stay at.  I'm only fishing, so I know I'm a little out of the thread topic..  but...

My rational is low end Simms vs higher end frogg togg or hodgmans..  Seems like the higher end of the other brands might be better??  Are the Simms like anything else, high end good but low end is subbed out??
