A sign of Spring

Saw my first rockchuck yesterday.  Temp was 26 degrees.

found this post from 11 days ago.  Mr. rockchuck's den is was under about 18 inches of snow until it got sunny and compressed the snow.

The next 10 days for the basin look like full blown winter.

This is WEIRD for mid to late February.  :twocents:

funny you mentioned a rockchuck sighting, I about drove off the road yesterday here in spokane, because I couldn't believe my eyes, there was a rockchuck sitting up looking around the snow,  you could see his face looked like he was thinking "what in the he11 am I doing awake already". never seen one up this early

Blackbirds and robins showed up then we had the storm of the decade.   They are still here, looking kind of mournful. LOL

The males are usually the first out in February looking for mates.  Then it's back in the den for them.

I was feeling bad for the robins in my yard. It's slim pickin's with 8" of snow!

Since the snow showed up a couple of weeks ago I've been seeing a fair amount of dead birds here and there. They look like they just fell over, feet stickin' straight out. 
$5 is a lot of money if you ain't got it
