Karl, I know your doing lots of cardio. But, do you try to put on a little weight so you have reserves to burn while on big hikes?

no sir.  I have a high metabolism so that approach has never worked for me.  Only extra weight I want is in the form of leg and back muscle   my goal is always maximized lung capacity and muscles that can sustain long, vigorous activity.  I just pack a lot of calories and eat eat eat.  Those who have hunted with me can verify my advanced snacking skills

Today was a good day! Michael landed back on American soil this morning and by this evening he was re-united with his family! His son was only a month old when Michael deployed so he's got a lot of catching up to do

That's awesome! I couldn't imagine having to leave my one month old like that. It's amazing the sacrifices servicemen have to make. Tell your brother thank you for me. Glad he's home safe.
