Good luck to them It's weird. We picked mine pretty clean and got about 40-50 pounds of meat off of it. My buddy who has been involved in at least 8 goat kills told me ahead of time it's weird how little meat they have on them. You're the first person I've heard say they have that much meat on them. Maybe the Alaskan ones are more meaty. I'm sure that I could have packed all the meat and cape out myself if I didn't have a bunch of other stuff to carry. We caped mine out back to the rear hips for a wall pedestal....so not a full body cape. I got 45 pounds off my Wyoming billy, picked clean. He was only 3 1/2, they do get larger with age until the start to regress and lose muscle mass. We estimated mine at 250 lbs, head, hide with feet, meat was a doable load with an external frame pack even with rifle and other gear. Fortunately with 2 of us it was two very easy loads.Mine was about same age and I got about 70lbs. Of edible meat. With light fading we gutted then split in half above hindquarters to start hiking as dark set in.

With light fading we gutted then split in half above hindquarters to start hiking as dark set in.This was a post on another forum in 2009. SE AK goats. Here is something interesting. I have seen 3 billys on the ground this year that were each 6 1/2 years old. Horn and body size respectively for the 3: 9 7/8" (50 7/8" B&C) and 73# meat (zero wastage)9 7/8" (50 1/8" B&C) and 79# meat (most rib meat, base of neck and the top of both shoulders shot up and discarded)9 3/8" and 103# meat (~6" of each backstrap, top of both shoulders and a little rib meat shot up and discarded plus we ate the remainder of one backstrap before weighing)That is more than 30# of boned meat different from billys of the same age and in the same general area. I thought the biggest goat had much smaller horns until I realized how big his body was. Probably coincidence that the smallest goat had the biggest horns and vice-versa.
I’ll just leave these here for now.
