Videoman filmed a hunt a few months ago.  Why are you asking?

Yeah,  good luck getting one back into the US.  He might not be able to get it back here.  He had his cities permit and all.

I don't have one.  I was surprised at how inexpensive the hunt was.  You can hunt marco polo argali for about 23k.  Of course, you have to pay to get there and all the other stuff.  Would you rather get a 70" argali ram or a desert sheep for 75k?  Easy choice if you ask me...

Just wanting to hear a few stories of the hunt, info, etc.  I've seen a few videos.

I agree Pope, would also much rather have the Marco Polo than the Desert sheep.  To be honest I have always thought the Desert variety was kinda homely anyway.  But yeah, a guy could probably take a Marco Polo and a Ibex and do the travel for less than half a desert sheep hunt in Mexico.
I didn't say it was your fault, I said I was blaming you.
If I ageed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

$23,000 is your base price, then a trophy fee, tip and all your permits and of course getting there.  Its more in the $50,000 range by the time you are done.  And the US is putting them on their endangered species list so you can go shoot one but you will not get it back!  Videoman said he saw over I think 700 in two days (not endangered).  I have the video of it right hear, pretty cool critter!

$50K is still better than $75K and a better looking animal.  Unless I get a stimulus check with lots of zero's I will be stuck with deer, elk, bear, cougar combo and possibly Montana.   :chuckle:
BCChaser - are you implying that you can the animal through customs, because the US has dubbed it an endangered species?

If I can't get a marco polo in the country, no big deal.  There are about 10 types out there.  I would imagine one could get in a hangay argali, altai, gobi, etc...?

I've only been a long time fan. Since I saw my first photos in the 80s and got up and close to a 60" brute lifesize mount at an early FNAWS show, they've run through my imagination. I've got a couple good Asian sheep videos and I tend to like the Brittingham video because of the life stories and the old footage of those pioneers making trips over there in the 60s. Just amazing.

For me, it's the Altai Argali that is the most inspiring. Those monsters are somehow special to me and have even found their way into my artwork.
May the morning silence be broken with the wisp of vanes trailing blades to their mark.

Thats what I don't understand if the animal was taken Legaly I don't see why the U.S should opose it from coming into the U.S as long as it has all the proper documents.

There are many sub spieces of marco polo sheep.  Some are bigger than others. Argali is the sub spiece that has the biggest bases.  The marco polo sheep hunt I filmed in dec. the guy that shot it still has not got is horns back yet but they are on the way.  The topic of marco polo or desert sheep.  I personally would go for the desert.  You can find some desert hunts for around $30 to 40k but they are not going to even hit the 150 mark.  A sheep is a sheep.
