" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I have no problem with vegans and vegetarians that are against hunting. I'm also not worried about them because they are such a small group.

For meat-eating anti-hunters I ask them why it is wrong for me to hunt but it's ok for them to pay illegals to slaughter factory raised animals throughout the year.

I don't have to explain a damn thing to meat-eating anti-hunters. They need to explain their views to me, not the other way around.

Not untrue, but the meat eating anti hunter doesn’t have whole segments of society trying to take away their right to eat meat, or attacking the way they procure their meat like hunters do. The best thing we as hunters can do for ourselves and hunters in general is to have fact based and intelligent conversations with non and anti hunters to normalize what we do and stop the attack. We are often our own worst enemies and attitudes like that are part of why.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

Look if someone asks me why I enjoy hunting I don't straight tell them to f-off even if I feel like it.

I simply ask why they eat meat if they feel hunting is wrong when they are paying illegals to kill animals for them. Usually it makes them think and to this day I have yet to hear an logical explanation.

I just prepare a good meal of game or fish I harvested and give to non hunters. Have done this when I lived all over the US, Europe, Africa, Russia. I explain how healthy the meat and fish are, the fact I handled and butchered myself ( best sanitation). No hormones, antibiotics etc and the animal and fish had an exponentially better quality of life vs farm raised.

Stress the fact that you practice and a quick humane ethical kill is utmost importance.

I think I have swayed quite a few urban dwellers to understand the importance of hunting and fishing.

Have had quite a few express interest in hunting and fishing

And you never will hear a logical explanation. The point is to try and do it respectfully to try and shed hunters in a better light.  Better for everyone.

:yeah:

I agree they need to explain why they pay someone else to do their dirty work and then get pissed at a hunter simply getting his own meat. Animal still dies either way. You can do this without being a jerk and I think we can and should be respectful. Its a great question for a meat eating anti hunter.

Excellent! Same route I use and it has resulting in taking several newbies into the field as bona-fide hunters.
