If it ends up being a “cactus buck” which it sounds like a possibility. It won’t qualify for B&C record. Will for Pope and young I believe

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think he will have to have the velvet stripped off for it to be considered for world record.

Why is this a rule?

I think it is because velvet adds mass to the score. You can't get the true hard horned score with the velvet still on. It will only be in the velvet category if he doesn't strip it.

Didn't know that was a thing. If there's a velvet category I'd leave it on if it was me. Not like everyone won't know that thing is a monster but having "world record" attached to it might be too much to pass up.

Its a huge buck for sure but kind of lacks eye appeal to me.  Amazing it was kept under wraps for so long in this day and age.
