Stopped a Rainier Archery today and he has 5 of the new MONSTERS on the shelf. 4 of them are for sale. He said the XLR8 should be in next week. I will be posting real soon with the results of trying to shoot an arrow over 400 fps.

I was going to forgo getting a new bow this year due to financial restraints, looks like I will be ignoring those restraints, MONSTER XLR8 here I come!!!!!

Pretty sure I should be able to fling my Gold tip 100+ at 320 fps. 80 lbs @ 30" draw. 450 grain arrow.

how much let off? How long can you hold that draw weight for a bull to walk around the corner? I know my weak ass would probably put an arrow in my foot after I start shaking.

I am not sure what the letoff was. I suppose it felt light although it was only at about 65 lbs as I shot it. I am used to pulling over 80 so it felt mushy to me at that weight. I also shot a guys reezin at 65 lbs and it felt sloppy, although it was extremely quiet and smooth. I really do not like shooting light draw bows.

I always prefer maximum performace, so I would actually prefer 65% letoff or less. I like when my bow lets me know what it wants to do.

That bow is fast enough as it is - there is no need for 80 lbs.. Most manufacturers and professional archers don't recommend shooting a broadhead over 280 fps in the first place... Not trying to start anything but I just don't see the need for this whole "speed" thing.. 260 - 280 fps is plenty fast enough.. Just my

With that set up the arrow is 30 gr too light to hunt with.

I heard the new rules comming up for tournaments will be 300 fps for NFAA & WSAA. I haven't read that yet though??

I also agree, all these guys are utilizing the speed bows all wrong IMO.. shoot LESS poundage and still get the 270-285 fps range which is more then enough for ANY animal and your pin gap is minimal.... and as stated above fixed blades fly best in that range

I shot the MONSTER yesterday too at LUCKY SHOT ARCHERY. It is impressive. Nice draw cycle, no big valley at the backend, and pretty smooth. I shot it at 57# and a 29" draw, My 412 gr arrow was 292 fps. Yes that is correct, 57# and 292 fps with a 412 gr arrow. Holy crap that thing is fast.
I can't explain it but we had a guy order a 80# Monster yesterday. He's a 31" draw. I tried to explain why he didn't need it, but he wanted an 80#er

Seems once again the old addage of "those that can do and those that can't complain". If you can't shoot 80 pounds just admit that you are a girly man and have a wimpy arm and stop telling those that have man arms that they are stupid for shooting an 80 pound bow.

For anybody on here that does not know my capabilities personally you really should not go there with me. To shoot an arrow at 396 FPS I had my Hoyt over 100 lbs draw weight. The arrow that I shot was to short for my rest so I had to hold my "100+" lb bow at the rollover point to keep the arrow on the rest. I did this repeatedly.

What I am getting at is 80 lbs is kids play for me. If that bothers some on here well suck it up baby because I will never stop shooting high poundage to keep you from feeling bad because you can't.

Anybody that is stupid enough to claim that arrows with broadheads don't fly at high speeds is simply uneducated. I shot some Carbon revolutions with 100 grain g5 strikers at 350 fps and they were shockingly true. I was shooting them all the way out to 90 yards and they were flying perfect.

So I will be getting the 80 lb model and I will most likley be having Joe call the factory to see if we can get some stiffer limbs or more poundage if possible.

So all the cry babies on here can just keep shooting your womens bows and us men will keep shooting our MENS bows.

I shoot 80 pounds traditional no let off at 31 inches. No need to sit there at full draw for an hour. Pull back and shoot.

Not really caring what fps I get just want to THWACK something.

Im sure your not hunting with that bow or are your arrows 600 grains? Just curiouse , like to know how fast a 6oo grain hunting arrow out of a 100 pound bow shoots??

Well nobody makes a 600 grain arrow so you would have to use a double shafted setup. I don't hunt with it at 100 lbs. I did shoot my goldtips 450 grains at 360 fps with it at 100 lbs

I will be using a heavy broadhead to make it legal. 450 grains was with a 75 grain head.

I think I will order the 80# bow now that I read some of these posts. I've been feeling a little down lately.

Its worth a try. Small price to pay if it makes me feel like a man. if that doesn't work I'll just keep yelling at you guys

I shot it as well, very nice bow. My concern is that I like to do my own work on my bows, and the press i have maybe not be able to press it. It has a significant tug the last 2 inches of the draw but other than than it is an awesome bow.

I can't wait to shoot one. I thought with that kind of speed you would probably give up some noise and vibration or shock. Just curious. Now for the speed debate on this thread, I personally don't shoot for rediculous speed anymore, but I have a friend that says he can't afford a rangefinder so he wants the flatest shooting bow he can get. So he is, was shooting a bowtech at 90lbs until he split a limb. He was really mad when the company wouldn't sell him another set of those limbs. I can't remember if his new ones are 80 or 85lbs. Just thought it was funny. anyway, can't wait to see the MONSTER in action.

Man thats a fast bow, I was just on a job the last todays pulling up to 320lb of pressure with both hands pulling.

If I held the scale in one hand and pulled the rope I could only get 100lbs on it and couldnt imagen pulling a bow at the pound age.

Well let me tell ya pulling 100 lbs is not easy. It really is pretty freaking hard. When you start pulling it is a long hard slow pull all the way back. I would hunt with it like that for dangerous game, I would love to see how it would fare against a wild boars shoulder plate. I think it would make short work of it.

Howard Hill used a 115 lb long bow to kill 3 elephants.

There is a video on youtube of a guy shooting a 100lb Elite bow and FOBs. The guy is pulling the thing back nice and smooth like it is a 60lb bow. Big dude too!!!

I wonder what kind of Elite it was. I have a buddy with an E500 (an older one, 2005 I think

) and it is a %##@ to draw. I have an Elite Ice that only goes to 60 and it's not hard to draw.
