What scope would you buy?
« on: March 25, 2009, 09:05:13 PM »
If you were to go out and buy a new scope for a 30-06 in the 200-350 price range what would you buy and why?

I have several Nikon scopes and have not had a single issue with any of them. Sharp, bright,
durable and in your range :twocents:

All of the top brand names make a great scope, I like Nikon, Sightron and Weaver(V series best bang for the buck).  I have a couple of leupolds and they are good but it is the only scope that I've ever had to use the warrenty.  If I were to scope a 30-06 for deer and elk now I'd look at a 1.5x6x42, 2x7, 2.5x8 or 3x9.  I like having a larger FOV on the bottom end and 6x to 9x is plenty for long shots on big game.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

Your money?  Leupold.

My money?...Bushnell Elite 4200 ($249), Nikon Team Primos ($199), Zeiss Conquest($350)
All of the scopes I listed have VX3 quality glass and better construction....Less likely to need to use the warranty.

Bushnell Elite, Nikon, Leupold, Burris, maybe even look at the new Vortex scopes.

They are all excellent scopes
By my honorable conduct as a hunter let me give a good example and teach new hunters principles of honor, so that each new generation can show respect for their god, other hunters and the animals, and enjoy the dignity of the hunt.
