Saw a hawk or other bird of prey this morning ground a quail then fly off with it.

Saw a dog carrying a huge stick all proud and strutting his stuff the other day.  I got closer and saw it was a frozen deer spine, recent kill, still bloody and meaty.

Surprised the cat gave up so fast, both left about the same spot, may be it was waiting?
