Collectable ammo?
« on: February 16, 2019, 09:07:39 AM »
Is there such a thing as collectable ammo. I have a bunch of old shotgun, rifle and pistol ammo that I have no use for. It is stuff that has sat in my den since I for it from my Dad when he passed over 40 years ago. Some of it came from the old Herters place on Hawks Prarie forever ago. There are even a few boxes of tracer 12 gauge.  Maybe take to an auction house? Any ideas out there?

Many of the old boxes are quite valuable if they are in good shape. There are many for sale on Ebay. Not sure what you could do with the old rounds that are possibly dangerous to fire.

Yes, some old ammo is collectable, boxes are the best. Military it's head stamps year and depot who made them. I like odd shot shells like pin fire and or odd gauges like 14ga. The Sound area did have an knife and ammo showes in the past.

I looked at some of those on ebay. I had no idea and that one for $122 is no where near in as good as shape as mine. Thanks for the tip.

There are people who like to collect it.  I know some old 2 piece shotgun ammo boxes can go for good money.  I sold one a few years ago for over $400 and have seen some go for $1,200-$1,800 if you have the right ones.  There is a vintage antique ammo collectors page on Facebook with over 3,000 collectors and I always post my stuff on there to see if I have something good and they will let you know if what you have is valuable.
