what do you guys think of the ruger super blackhawk 44 mag ? i just got it today .it 7 1/2 in barrel . but i havent shot it yet. cant wait to go shoot it in the morning.

My dad reloads some 240 grain hornady xtp hollow points they do some damage........havent got to see what it does on an animal yet though.......I think hes determined to get a deer with it now but last year was his first year using it....

Awesome shooting gun though very accurate with open sites even i can easilly smoke pop cans at 75 yards with it....I love it id like to steal it from him

My brother has that one. It is fun to shoot when shooting 44spl's, but with the magnums it quite a handful.

I've had 2  so far a cowboy style grip and the hunter bisley. The cowboy grip was a little harsh for me though. If you have large hands the bisley is the way to go. They are great guns. I don't know if this is the norm or not but my hunter's factory trigger pull is 2-3lbs!!!

I'm with cully. The Ruger Hunter Bisley is the way to go when it comes to choices on the Ruger Blackhawk in .44 mag. It's what I got. Shoots good and good trigger if you take one of the springs off in the handle.

The other one is the stainless Hunter in 7 1/2".  They are my two favorite pistols.  Have you ever shot one over 100 yds?  Its a kick in the ass when you hit your target that far away with an open sight revolver.  I load 300 gr xtp's. They are very accurate.

What powder do you use for the 300g XTP load?  I can’t get them to group.  The 240 XTPs shoot fine but my 300g loads fly high and mostly just fly.

Hmmmm....I have 4 of them, SBH Hunter, SBH, Vaquero and a Reeder Custom...the Reeder is pretty SNAPPY with heavy loads. 

Also have a short pile of BlackHawks in .45 LC.

Get you a set of Pachmyr? grips for the Blackhawk, takes a lot of pain out of the shooting. 

Between, everyone in my group we have 5 and a Redhawk.  We handload, and we shoot the 240 gr. XTPs and Sierra 300 gr. jacketed softpoints.  They shoot very well out of all the Rugers (same powder charge, and all).  The 300 grainers do not transfer well to other makes or .44s, if you seat them out where they belong, they are just to long.

well took it out today and man what a gun. never shot one before now iam hooked . that thing a blast to shoot. hand a little sore but i will have to work up to it . 44 mags are a hell of round
