I don't know that I've ever shot the HK, but you can' go wrong with the Glock. Can I assume you eliminated the Sig P365?I carry a Ruger LC9S, but that dang P365 keeps calling to me......
HK VP9 or Glock 19 Gen 5? Why??? I like the ergonomics of the HK but the reliability of the Glock

I think you'd be choosing well with either one. The biggest thing that sets those two choices apart IMO is aftermarket support - the Glock is ahead by miles in that area. Not that you should expect to need replacement parts, but things like holsters, spare OEM mags, etc are a lot easier to find for most Glock models than anything HK.

Hey, I intentionally tried not to single you out... But yeah, that's a pocket gun. Glock calls their 43 a pocket gun too. I have one, but only carry it in special circumstances where I can't carry a 19.
I looked at the 19 and liked the reliability and didn't like the feel. I got both with a CZ-p01
Glock is the iPhone of the gun world.

This is true in a good way, and not just because of the aftermarket support; their reputation for dependability is well deserved. A carry gun shouldn't need to be special or different, quite the opposite IMO. Save the special and unique guns for the range toys (not saying there's anything wrong with those, I have plenty), the carry gun is a tool and needs to be as proven and dependable as grampa's old hammer.

Carried one for years even owned 3 at one point. However they have literally done nothing significant since they put a rail on them. What gen 5 now? I can pick up a gen 1 and and gen 5 and if it weren't for the grip texture there would be 0 difference in performance.Since everyone makes a polymer striker gun now I personally think glock is in the dust. Other companies have tried different things and I now think make better out of the box guns than glocks.
Well I couldnt decide so I got both, had to make some sacrifices but came up with enough to get em.
Walther PPQ, exact same as HK but with a better trigger and cost less. Glocks are fine and there is nothing wrong with them, I just can't justify the price when there are guns that don't need any aftermarket parts to feel perfect. If you can't pick which one, go a range, rent them and see which one you like better. In the end it's up to you.
I when I say "better" I mean driving more innovation. Like Sig p320 with the modular trigger system, or others with more capacity, or recoil systems, RMR cuts ect. Look at a glock 17 and compare it to the Canik TP9SFX. look at everything it comes with compared to the glock. I just feel other companies are at least TRYING where Glock just keeps the same ol same ol. If they don't innovate soon, I feel they'll start getting replaced.

I honestly don't think it matters much anymore. Glock, XD, FN9, Storm etc etc etc. They are all so reliable and similar that they are almost boring
Those polymer guns are like the Toyota Camry of the gun world. Some people think they're great, some people think they're dull, boring, basic, overrated.Pegasus, if you think the Walther PPQ is the finest pistol you've ever fired, somebody needs to get a nice 1911 in your hands.
