I don't know that I've ever shot the HK, but you can' go wrong with the Glock.

Can I assume you eliminated the Sig P365?
I carry a Ruger LC9S, but that dang P365 keeps calling to me......

I do own the new glock 43x  but i want 1 more a lil bigger.  Before you spend the money on the Sig 365 you may wanna look at the glock 43x   It is glocks answer  to Sigs 365.  Watched a couple videos on both guns but Glock they say is a more reliable proven platfform

I carry a CZ p10c, which is a lot like a Glock 19.  It feels better to me though.  I like having those extra rounds at hand.

HK VP9 or Glock 19 Gen 5? Why???  I like the ergonomics of the HK but the reliability of the Glock

Both are good guns that should serve you well, and give you a lot more firepower than the little pocket guns like a 43 or LCP. I think you'd be choosing well with either one.

The biggest thing that sets those two choices apart IMO is aftermarket support - the Glock is ahead by miles in that area. Not that you should expect to need replacement parts, but things like holsters, spare OEM mags, etc are a lot easier to find for most Glock models than anything HK.

I would go HK if I was keeping and using it. I will have a Glock 43 for sale soon. I am not a glock fan, I have owned several, put some money into a couple, but ended up at a dead end on meeting personal needs. Glocks do work and work very well. for me it is the difference between hitting the target every time or hitting the 10 ring every time, I prefer 10.

by the way I carry neither now I carry Sig. a P226 Legion SAO to be specific

They are both fantastic guns. The only reason I would go Glock is aftermarket parts are easy to find. Everyone who makes holsters, barrells, sight and so on makes them for Glocks. If the statistics are still current the Glock 17 is the most owned handgun in the world and Glock 19 is the most owned in the United States. If someone makes a cool gadget for handguns they will most certainly make it for a Glock 19.

I own my share of Glock's. If I had to choose between the two you mentioned, I would go with the HK. You may want to take a look at some of the Sig Sauer offerings.

Hey, I intentionally tried not to single you out... :)

But yeah, that's a pocket gun. Glock calls their 43 a pocket gun too. I have one, but only carry it in special circumstances where I can't carry a 19.

No problem.   Besides, I feel better with the 9 round mags.     I know it doesn't compete(capacity wise) with the Glock, the HK or the Sig.........   But I do own it, and that's a plus.

I used to be a springfield XD guy until someone convinced me to buy a glock 43.  I carried that thing 24/7.  The only thing I didnt care for was my inaccuracies with my large hands on such a small gun.  I bought the glock 19 and it really tightened up my groups.  I carry my glock 19 99% of the time and I absolutely love it.  Best handgun ive ever owned.

I own both the G19 and the VP9. Both are great and it's already been said several times bit the aftermarket support for the Glock is far superior. Extra OEM mags for the VP9 are twice what the cost for the G19. I'm curious how you intend to carry? IWB OWB?? The VP9 is bigger than the G19 and both can be somewhat challenging to conceal depending on your build and what you are wearing. I end up carrying a S & W Shield most of the time due to the ease of concealibity.

Glock is the iPhone of the gun world. Not that they are "bad" guns, they are just not special anymore except for the aftermarket support. But in a carry gun you should fiddle with it as little as possible. So my vote is the HK or a Sig 320C.

Glock is the iPhone of the gun world.

This is true in a good way, and not just because of the aftermarket support; their reputation for dependability is well deserved. A carry gun shouldn't need to be special or different, quite the opposite IMO. Save the special and unique guns for the range toys (not saying there's anything wrong with those, I have plenty), the carry gun is a tool and needs to be as proven and dependable as grampa's old hammer.

I agree a weapon is a tool and Glock used to be top notch. Carried one for years even owned 3 at one point. However they have literally done nothing significant since they put a rail on them. What gen 5 now? I can pick up a gen 1 and and gen 5 and if it weren't for the grip texture there would be 0 difference in performance.

Since everyone makes a polymer striker gun now I personally think glock is in the dust. Other companies have tried different things and I now think make better out of the box guns than glocks.

If he was looking for a fancy nice looking gun with cool new features I don't think anyone would recommend a Glock. However if someone was looking for a proven and reliable defense weapon Glock 19 is a solid choice. He did one better and got an old ugly reliable gun and the sexier one with more features. Good for him!

HK VP9 or Glock 19 Gen 5? Why???  I like the ergonomics of the HK but the reliability of the Glock

I have theG19x and the VP9. I’m a big fan of Glock, but I get tighter groups with the VP9 and it’s a more comfortable EDC.

If you could shoot them sxs I would. But with the glocks I own, I still prefer the HK

Take a look at the Springfield XD Mod.2 9mm. Really good reviews. I'm looking towards the 10mm for my next gun. The reviews favor it over the Glock 20.

I agree up to the point where you say there are better polymer striker guns. I honestly don't think it matters much anymore. Glock, XD, FN9, Storm etc etc etc.

They are all so reliable and similar that they are almost boring

I when I say "better" I mean driving more innovation. Like Sig p320 with the modular trigger system, or others with more capacity, or recoil systems, RMR cuts ect. Look at a glock 17 and compare it to the Canik TP9SFX. look at everything it comes with compared to the glock. I just feel other companies are at least TRYING where Glock just keeps the same ol same ol. If they don't innovate soon, I feel they'll start getting replaced.

Walther PPQ, exact same as HK but with a better trigger and cost less. Glocks are fine and there is nothing wrong with them, I just can't justify the price when there are guns that don't need any aftermarket parts to feel perfect. Walther PPQ, exact same as HK but with a better trigger and cost less. Glocks are fine and there is nothing wrong with them, I just can't justify the price when there are guns that don't need any aftermarket parts to feel perfect. If you can't pick which one, go a range, rent them and see which one you like better. In the end it's up to you.

I am an owner of a Walther PPQ. Without a doubt the finest pistol I have ever fired. Find a range that has one and fire it. You will not be disappointed.

I prefer Glock 21 .45, I've carried a Glock for 27yrs and prefer the trigger pull over all others.  The Glock is dependable easy to take apart and clean and very accurate.

When I'm looking for a good reliable tool, I don't care about "driving innovation" or all the accessories it comes with, I want something that works well and is proven and reliable. Some of you guys are funny.

I agree up to the point where you say there are better polymer striker guns. I honestly don't think it matters much anymore. Glock, XD, FN9, Storm etc etc etc.

They are all so reliable and similar that they are almost boring
Those polymer guns are like the Toyota Camry of the gun world.
Some people think they're great, some people think they're dull, boring, basic, overrated.
Pegasus, if you think the Walther PPQ is the finest pistol you've ever fired, somebody needs to get a nice 1911 in your hands.

Honestly, there are very few guns that would not do as a conceal carry.
So all this is like a Ford vs Chevy vs Dodge argument everyone likes what they carry.

But obviously if you don’t carry what I do you are an idiot, duh  :dunno:

 :chuckle:

I have had many different carry guns, they all served the need.

I am former military and I have certainly fired the 1911(.45). I found it clumsy and difficult to use even though I could shoot expert with it. I saw many others struggle to shoot it. I never liked the grip safety. It was designed as a safety for the US Calvary to keep them from shooting themselves or their horse while astride a horse especially while reloading. It has no comparison to my Walther PPQ in my opinion. Everyone is different with what works for them.

I'd say they are closer to the F150. Rugged, reliable and gets the job done.

I've shot a high end 1911 and I have to say I wasn't impressed. Yea it had a nice solid feel but with a fully loaded magazine the weight is a bit much for anything but side carry.

I have a subcompact Glock and I'll be the first to tell you it isn't a great shooter. But I'm not looking to make clover leaf holes at the range with it. It's for concealed carry and in a IWB holster I don't even notice it is there.
