I own both the G19 and the VP9. Both are great and it's already been said several times bit the aftermarket support for the Glock is far superior. Extra OEM mags for the VP9 are twice what the cost for the G19. I'm curious how you intend to carry? IWB OWB?? The VP9 is bigger than the G19 and both can be somewhat challenging to conceal depending on your build and what you are wearing. I end up carrying a S & W Shield most of the time due to the ease of concealibity.

The guns you listed are all reliable and quality, it all comes down to which one feels the best and that you shoot the best.

In my experience HK has the absolute worst customer service in the industry.  Love the product but wouldn't buy another because their service reps.

I looked at the 19 and liked the reliability and didn't like the feel.  I got both with a CZ-p01

I'm glad I'm not the only CZ "fanboy", they make great products.

I don't know that I've ever shot the HK, but you can' go wrong with the Glock.

Can I assume you eliminated the Sig P365?
I carry a Ruger LC9S, but that dang P365 keeps calling to me......

Just do it.  It will call and call and call.  I am happy with mine.

Glock is the iPhone of the gun world. Not that they are "bad" guns, they are just not special anymore except for the aftermarket support. But in a carry gun you should fiddle with it as little as possible. So my vote is the HK or a Sig 320C.

Glock is the iPhone of the gun world.

This is true in a good way, and not just because of the aftermarket support; their reputation for dependability is well deserved. A carry gun shouldn't need to be special or different, quite the opposite IMO. Save the special and unique guns for the range toys (not saying there's anything wrong with those, I have plenty), the carry gun is a tool and needs to be as proven and dependable as grampa's old hammer.

I agree a weapon is a tool and Glock used to be top notch. Carried one for years even owned 3 at one point. However they have literally done nothing significant since they put a rail on them. What gen 5 now? I can pick up a gen 1 and and gen 5 and if it weren't for the grip texture there would be 0 difference in performance.

Since everyone makes a polymer striker gun now I personally think glock is in the dust. Other companies have tried different things and I now think make better out of the box guns than glocks.

If he was looking for a fancy nice looking gun with cool new features I don't think anyone would recommend a Glock. However if someone was looking for a proven and reliable defense weapon Glock 19 is a solid choice. He did one better and got an old ugly reliable gun and the sexier one with more features. Good for him!
