You must have a golden horseshoe up your rear and a 5 leaf clover around your neck?

Didn't you pull some tags last year?

Yeah. That turned into the hardest hunt I think I have done in my life. We put in 9 days probably hiked over 100 miles in tough steep grizzly country. Seen one massive griz and tons of sign. Think we seen 5-6 black bear. It was more of a predator pit than anything. Truck broke down in the middle of nowhere. Transmission control module went out in it so had to throw Magnum in the back of the only truck we seen go by to go get a vehicle to rescue us. Ended up with a 1400 bill after the tow and work done. Didn’t see a moose until the 9th day and at that point I was ready to shoot to say the least. We spotted a 50 plus incher at the head end of a basin but there was no way to get him. We figured we would hike to as close as we could get and try and call him down but that didn’t work. We were about to give up and turned around and in the alpine meadow was a cow feeding about 300 yards out. Another moose walked out of the brush and it had antler so i took him. Was a small 2 point but I was done and that hunt kicked our butt. That unit has moose but the predators are out of control. A warden called me a few days later just to see how I was doing and he confirmed there are way to many predators and the moose are being decimated.

I have a question for those that applied as a party and you have an Arizona account.  my wife and I applied and now when I look at the application I don't see that it's applying bonus points.  however when I look at my bonus point area I can see that I do have some.   anyone else have that going on ?

I did email AZGFD and asked so hopefully they can tell me something.

with 12 points going into this year's draw, I was hopeful for an early archery bull tag.
no such luck for me as a non-resident applicant again.

but I'll make my September 3day scout trip as usual and listen to the elk bugle.
been trying for an AZ elk archery tag since age 49. try again next year (sigh)

So if you put in for the draw and don't get drawn that is it, no Arizona hunting this year?  Are you just out the application fee and how much is that?  If you get drawn what is the cost for the non resident tag?

You are out the cost of a AZ hunting license ($160) plus the application fee.
Big game beside elk and Antelope are drawn in a few months, so still have that as an option since you already have a license, just have to apply for those draws and pray.

Is it good deer hunting?  I am not sure what I would call good but $160 license, whatever the deer tag costs and then travel to Arizona seems a little steep for deer hunting.

I didn't realize that it would take 10-20 years of putting in for one of these out of state tags.  That's a ton of money to put in, not get drawn and not be able to hunt.

Just like deer and elk hunting here it can vary significantly.  Def not cheap hunt for sure, as you mentioned.  Deer tag is $315 ontop of the 160 license.  Hunt can range from never seeing anything, to being in B&C class deer every day and that is just in one given unit.  I got the only deer in camp last year, I was the only person to put eyes on a legal shooter and shot it without even caring about rack size as I was tired of tag soup.  That is some expensive meat in my freezer for sure since the deer are so tiny(Coues).  I am lucky I have family down there and just tag along on their hunt, so just have to get myself down there with all my gear if I draw the tag.

I plan on using a guide. I have never used a guide for hunting but I think it makes sense for a tag like this.

Anyone else that was not drawn checked their profile on the website?  I find it curious that it shows no record of me applying for the draw or even having a license.  Yet I have the printed license in my wallet and a receipt in my email for applying..?   Curious if anyone else is seeing similar.

Suggest calling them next week then, it should show your current license and draw results in the dashboard.  The only thing it doesn't show yet is the current bonus that was just obtained.
