When and where to buy a new boat motor
« on: March 04, 2019, 06:57:04 PM »
I have 18 foot Gregor Seahawk with a Johnson 48spl that is tired and I would like to put a new motor on it. I checked out a Tahotsu 60 which is really a Honda motor when the cover is removed it says Honda, but it is $7k at my local dealer a do you guys have some ideas on how to keep the cost down?

Oregon??  Usually have better deals and no tax.  I would look at either Honda or Yamaha and see what the price difference is with the Tahotsu, and WARRANTY coverage differences.

Evinrude has a sale going on now, 7 year warranty too. One thing about the ETEC is there's no break in period on it, start it up and go.

You might check out Suzuki. A buddy of mine has one on his boat & he loves it. It was considerably cheaper than the bigger brands, is very reliable & get good gas mileage.
