I don’t think of the 6.5-284 as a short action cartridge. But that’s ok

Sure it is, or maybe I should say it can be.  You can do a 6.5-284 on a long or short action, they tend to shoot a little faster in a long action, if they are throated properly, because it frees up a little case capacity, but there isn't really a great deal of difference, in velocity, between one built on a SA versus LA, and even less when you use an extended mag box in the SA.

I say all that and my 6.5-284 is built on a Rem 700 LA.
True story but it’s more better in a long action.

Plus I said i don’t consider it a short action... and what I say is the absolute fact... so there!  :chuckle:

Got to chime in on this, 6.5X55 Swede is my number1 and the other is .308 Win. Because they can do everything soft skin, well maybe not a Griz.

My 375 BME is built on a short action single shot, does that count? :chuckle:

Otherwise I'd probably have to go 6mm BR. At the moment though I'm starting to really like a 6 Dasher that I've been playing with.

I have a 223 vtr 700 rem which Ireally enjoy shooting.

I bought my grandson an 7mm 08 and that is really nice. I may get myself one.

Torn between my 250 and 300 savage rifles.  Don't really need much else but where's the fun in that?

260 Rem. Great youth big game cartridge. Same bullets, more case capacity than 6.5 Creedmoor

I think my 7x57 in a Model 70 featherweight is a short action.  Been carrying it since 1984.  It's a light rifle and the cartridge has enough juice to get the job done.

Nice.👍 Don’t hear mention of the .250-3000 much these days. Savage model 99 rifles I presume
