AR-15 sights
« on: March 10, 2019, 06:09:16 PM »
Just picked up a brand spankin' new AR.... without sights

I've got about $200 in Amazon cards sitting around, any recommendations?  I kinda like the M16A2 look (veterans nastalgia :chuckle:), but I'm pretty open minded on this one.

TIA!

Depends on the type of ar you got is it just the rail on the upper or does it have a hand guard with rails? What is the purpose of this riffle plinking, close range, mid range, self defense civil war?

Just a rail up top

I’m not sure about the rest of it.  I think I’ll get a feel for it before I decide if it’s my go-to for anything  ;)

So then my answer would be just get a cheap red dot from like big 5 for temporary use until you figure out what the guns purpose is. If it’s close range home defense get yourself a good red dot plus a flashlight that is pressure switch activated(hd). If it’s a little of both get a hand guard with a rail put on a red dot and metal flip up back up iron sights. My next optic is a 3x red dot with a 3x magnifier for the shooting I do. Everyone is different on the purpose of their rifle

Been running and selling some Romeo 5 red dots. Good price pretty solid, no complaints from anyone.

I've always had great luck with Magpul MBUS for backup sights.  Watch the cheap crap on Amazon, it's made for airsoft.

I'm going to second the Romeo 5.

The red dot has a better outline than some of the cheaper options.

I don't bother with irons.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.
