“It’s great we have another year of upward numbers,” said Ben Maletzke, a statewide wolf specialist for WDFW. “Wolves are definitely a keystone species out there, and they are recovering and expanding in Washington. They need a healthy prey population to expand.”   :puke:

Here is a thread with an article from the Washington post with some more information.

Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Typical WDFW story.....act like this is a first. There have been wolves in that area for many years, just ask a local. I saw 4 together in that area in 1991....while working for the old dept. of fisheries. When I told the local wildlife bio, he just shrugged his shoulders and said he wasn't surprised, he had several reports of them in the area. Back then, it wasn't a big deal, and the locals acted accordingly. Now the huggers, who have unfortunately invaded that part of the state, are involved and suddenly it's big news!

“We’re pleased to see our state’s wolf population continue to grow and begin to expand to the west side of the Cascades,” agency Director Kelly Susewind said. “We will continue to work with the public to chart the future management of this important native species.”

When did the Canadian wolves become native, and what happened to the migrating wolves? Now they are expanding...

Took five-six years for Idaho, Montana and Wyoming to be eligible for delisting, here we are at 17 plus years with wolves and WDF$Wolves are still pretending most of WA's wolves have been neutered...
