Checking weather
« on: March 24, 2019, 11:15:21 PM »
How do you guys find out what the weather will be like in an area you have never been to, that is not near a city or town, and has a big elevation difference from the closest town that would have weather statistics?
Tried a few ranger stations but couldn't get through to anyone.
planning a hunt but unsure if my spot will get snow during deer rifle season.

Eastern WA near Republic sort of if that helps. About 5,500 elevation where i am planning to go.

The NOAA site at the link will allow one to get a forecast for any location.
Scroll down to the map and move it to your location and relocate the green box by clicking on your location....and a forecast will be generated.

It never changes, but it is always different.

Are you looking for past years weather models or current info the week b4 your hunt. I use weather sites lie NOAA pin point and Apps like Windty for really accurate ten day models.

I use Weather Underground most of the time along with some specific ones like Windy if that is important.  There aren't many places on the planet that don't have weather stations at least somewhat close.

If south of Republic check Keller for moisture and convert to snow if climbing elevation.  Its a pretty good indicator.  Sherman pass conditions also help. Most weather up there tends to be region wide.

I have a watch with a barometer and thermometer.  IF the barometric pressure starts dropping I will go down in elevation.

Kinda sound like Les Nessman from WKRP.

the recomendation of using WEather.com and Weather.gov sound like good advice.
