That's a shame. I'm glad they killed the cougar.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

More pets were saved and possibly a child by killing this lion, for sure 50 more deer will live, way to many cats in this state, be ready for a lot more encounters and tragedies coming down the pike... :twocents:

What great investigative reporting.... I hate how most "news" articles barely have any more details than the headlines.

I don't mind that they shot the cougar, there are plenty of them, but I wonder why killing a dog is means for termination, It just did what comes naturally.?

Because it knocked over the person, which is an attack.

Besides if you had as much time and money invested in dogs as some people do you might understand. Do you want to set a precedence and have this or other cougars get "use" to human interaction?

Typically the government does not care about personal property at all unless that property is a dog. If something bad happens to someones fur baby then they get involved. Every local news channel will knock on their door looking for the exclusive interview with the fur parents.

But seriously predators have my attention more than ever. It would seem they don't fear us anymore.

Because there was a person with the dog when it happened, and that's not normal.

It was shot because we are just doing what humans do naturally, protecting ourselves and our property from attacks.

Short dog was the easier target, likely the tall human if the dog was not present.  It was dinner time.  Be careful out there

:yeah:  Several more encounters, then have ever been reported, most of the time if the public does not report these predator problems, then they never get reported.

In several areas, the predators have depleted their prey base, hunger and the lack of fear for humans has created a bad situation.

I'm going camping there next week with my two Cougar baits, might have to rethink my security in case he has a buddy in the area. Last year they had warnings posted at Lake Cushman.

Just think if that would have been a young child walking with that person instead of a dog.

Yup. Any predator that shows no fear of humans particularly in a populated area must be hunted down and executed.

Any excuse to reduce predators in this state should implemented. That goes for bears, cougars, wolves, and coyotes.
