Battery powered trimmer

I need a new weed eater and curious if anybody has tried the battery powered ones. Would be used for light duty trimming around the house and figure it would be easy for the boy or wife to start up. Any recommendations on brands?

I used a Stihl battery powered one.  Worked great for trimming around the yard.  Don't know if I would use it for much more than trimming grass.  Seemed to do the job.  No gas, no pull starting and no carb issues to deal with.

The Ryobi stuff i have seems pretty decent. I got a hedge trimmer and blower as well. Like the fact that I have batteries to swap in between each tool. Not the power of anything gas powered, but for the quick homeowner stuff, they work well... without some of the gas-associated hassles.

I would be using it about 20min or so at a time for around the house. It would be kinda nice to not have to mix gas and whatnot.  I see Dewalt makes one that uses their 20v battery. I think I may have to buy one and try it out.

my milwaukee stuff has been great for what i need around the house.  i pull them out just a few times a year, and not having to deal with 2 stroke oil/gas sitting or not sitting more than makes up for what they may lack in power.
i have the weed wacker and hedge trimmer...
i have the milwaukee m18 drill, impact, and other tools, so just made sense to stay on the same battery system.

X 2 for the RYOBI trimmer. I have the 40 Volt and it works really well for quick jobs around the house. They have multiple attachments as well you can run off of the same power head.

I’m a 100% Milwaukee guy after buying the 18v stuff for work, it’s a solid quality tool with a good warranty. Also not the cheapest, but if you know where to look there’s good deals

Garage saled one for my mom, pop the battery out of the charger, plug it into the trimmer, pull the trigger. So handy for her.

I have a 40v Oregon trimmer.  Just pulled it out over the weekend and trimmed up the yard after having it sit all winter.  Battery still charged and ready to go.  Works great!

I ended up buying the 20v Dewalt weed eater. Worked pretty dang good after I put better string on it. Battery lasted on high for probably a half hour or so. Was pretty impressed at how well it performed.
