NRA High Power or F Class shooters on here?
« on: April 08, 2019, 03:49:48 PM »
Didn't know where else to put this, so if I was wrong please move.
Anyone on here fit this description? If so, I have some questions.

I'm an ex- High Power shooter.  Had eye problems.

If someone was to want to try a match, what would the bare bone equipment needs a shooter would need?

you'd need a gun that took either a stripper clip or magazines.  The two magazines would need to hold 8 rounds.  100 rounds of ammo as you'd shoot 88. A rear sight capable of adjusting from 200 yards to 600 yards, a good sling that would fit around your bicep and a spotting scope.  You might be able to partner up with a fellow shooter and use theirs.  And ear and eye protection.  I understand chamber flags are used now.  You wouldn't need a shooting mat as you could lay in the dirt.

Another way is find a new shooter match if those still exist.  You'd use a club rifle and DCM ammo (if that still exists).

I favored a bolt action.    You could always use an AR platform rifle and a lot of the issues are solved like magazines, rear sights and how to hook the sling up.  Ammo's cheap that way.

If you’re on the west side, check out cascade shooting facilities. Look at the calendar and show up at a match. Anyone at the match will be able to point you in the right direction. There is a big difference between high power and F class so you’ll want to figure out which one is for you.

I almost started shooting fclass open but quickly realized I could do a lot of rock shooting for the cost of membership and suck.  I enjoy competing against the elements and my self so it was an easy choice for me when I looked at the big picture
