NE Morels
« on: March 30, 2019, 10:12:49 AM »
Wife loved hunting morels on the west side and really wants to pick up that hobby over on this side.  I love the idea of getting the family out hiking.  I only know of one area where I’ve seen them being picked years ago up in the CNF.  I was just wondering if anyone had timelines of when they start popping up in the NE.  Or any general tips for picking up there.

In the conifers starting mid-April and past forest fire areas, mid-May.

Just looking for some insight. My family and I love finding morels. We are on the West side. (Originally Missouri) where does a person start looking in this dense rain forest? South facing slopes.....

While inexperienced, a open mind, a will to learn, and the drive to achieve what you dream about. You can do anything. Persistence is key. Some dream of wealth or material things. I dream of experiences and wild places

Depends on what type of morels you are looking for. True morels go to a burned area
The only man who never makes a mistake, is the man who never does anything!!
The further one goes into the wilderness, the greater the attraction of its lonely freedom.
