Where to Buy Fence Posts?
« on: April 03, 2019, 08:45:48 AM »
Anyone have a recommendation on where a person could get wholesale or manufacturer direct treated round posts and/or t-posts?  I'm going to be fencing off the rest of my pasture this spring and I'm wondering if I can find better prices than the local farm supply stores.  Spokane/CDA area would be ideal, but for the right deal I'd be willing to haul the trailer a ways.

Wilco was having their spring sale in March.  I picked up some supplies then.  Craigslist often has ads for used t-posts, etc.

I doubt you or anyone else would do this but...if a guy only needs a few and looks are not important..

From time to time I go to Twin City metals in Kennewick and rummage around through the scrap iron others bring in. The guys in the yard usually set t-posts off to the side in a pile. Ive picked through them a couple times in the past and picked out the thickest, best quality ones. I haul them inside to be weighed and they usually come out to be about $1 a piece. Again, these are  old, THICK ones that I will sort out. As long as they are not rusted out at the bottom they are stouter than the new thinner ones which seem to run around $4 a post at the store.

Yes, I am frugal to answer the question

I bought a semi load of 5.5’ heavy steel post for $4.37/post this winter.
Pearson Farm & Fence in Colfax and Moses Lake. May be cheaper out there but I wanted red and white posts and they delivered to my place for that price.
