I thought it was cheaper to live in the country than the concrete jungle   Sorry man must be challenging to raise huntin dogs in the city.

Simple! Don't keep man's best friend in a kennel. They are family. Make sure you live in the country and let them go out in nature to take care of business.

Not a Holier than thou, just a simpler option which would make everyone happier.

FWIW singleshot, my dogs have free roam of entire house, furniture and beds. They have 2 doggy doors that allow them to access outside pee area(kennel/run)
Would love to own acreage in the country.....wanna float me some cash? Lol

East Wenatchee is far from a concrete jungle. You might as well quit while you are behind

I think hunting dogs are better off outside. Good winter coat and not bothered the cold waterfowl season.

I have a 12 x 14 outside kennel half covered. I use pea gravel. 12 inches.
Bed her box with straw.
Rake gravel once a week.
Pick up every day. Rain washes gravel I. Summer I might hose down.
It also allows her to scrape out a nest in summer and lay on cool pea gravel.
The pea gravel helps turds dry out quick and easier to pickup.

No problems
20 years now, two dogs. Every two years I add new gravel.

We had our kennel run outside in a grassy area. We did a concrete slab that set up higher than the surrounding area and picked up poo and rinsed off the slab every few days. Never had any smell. This was westside where we didn't get much freezing though. Don't know how it'd work Winters in Wenatchee.

I have a concrete slab with a covered 5x15 kennel/run for my two dogs. They are only in there while I am at work so they don't make to much of a mess, but I scoop up the poop, and put it in the garbage or with the lawn clippings. I found some stuff at petsmart called "Urine Destroyer." I put it in a spray bottle spray the slab down, let it soak for a minute and then hose it off. I have the slab surrounded by river rock that is 6-8 inches deep. Never had a problem with smell as long as I keep up on cleaning the slab. I try to pressure wash it once a month as well. Concrete is pretty porous.

I use Cedar chips 8" thick when I scoop poop I grab chips with the poop. Once a year I add a fresh layer on top. Seems to work really well. The other thing I started doing right before I put the fresh layer on I put down a heavy layer of diatomaceous earth. Kills lice and ticks. I think this system works best with a roof over your kennel though.
