.410 Single Shot Crack Barrel. Youth Hunt!!!
« on: April 13, 2019, 09:35:47 AM »
Daughter harvested her 1st Gobbler during the youth weekend hunt here in the Gorge. Ground Hut setup. Call of choice was Tree Killers Custom Wing Bone yelper. Started the call sequence with a Kee Kee Run. Then some yelps. Daughter said to do some highper hen yelps. So I did. Then we heard the Gobble! The excitement set in then! We kept with the Highper hen yelps and through in some cluck purrs. Here he comes on a leash. We work him into our range of 20yrds. What a great way to teach youngsters patience.  It was tough for her not to shot sooner at 9yrs old. #4 lead from a .410 kills Turkeys just as dead as a 12 gauge with proper effective range of the gun. So we are all very happy she got her 1st game bird and she definitely has the hunting itch in her blood! History with the  Crack Barrel is running deeper by the generation.  I recieved the gun as a gift about same age as her of 9. Lots of grouse and rabbit it has taken. She is the first to kill a Turkey with it.

Amazing story and a fine bird! Keep that crack barrel moving down the line. Maybe one day a grandchild will post their child's first turkey. Making good memories.
