A slight underestimate I do believe.  I have a friend in John Day that told me about all the places where wolves have been reported on a regular basis.  But if you look at the report it doesn't show wolves in Grant County.  One friend of his had four walk near his treestand last fall and locals get them on trailcams....BUT, the wildlife bio with the Malheur National Forest says they're not aware of any established packs.    :dunno:

If they were smart they wouldn't let them get established.

I used to hunt near Mt. Hood for elk but the past few years the wolves have been moving that herd around.  We used to have a good bead on the elk patterns for archery season, but no longer.

Saw my first wolf in central Oregon last fall.  Ran out across the road in front of me just north of Crane Prairie Reservoir (central cascades).  Took me by surprise.  Was not expecting to see a wolf in that region.   He was a big boy too.   Couldn't stop and get my phone out fast enough to get a photo before he disappeared.
