Oak Creek got hit early
« on: April 14, 2019, 06:00:38 PM »
My cousin seen someone sitting at the oak Creek gate with bicycles and a pile of sheds yesterday. Thought that was closed until May 1st. He did see a game warden heading that way so maybe they got caught.

Let's hope so

Yes it is closed till May 1st. I hope the game warden wrote them a ticket, took their bikes(used to commit the crime, and confiscated the sheds. That would be awesome

Nothing illegal about riding a bike up the forest service road to shed hunt in open areas :twocents:

Left side is open from what I recall going in

 :yeah:
Last time I was there the left side was open. Talked to a warden and he told me guys were going in the closed area and piling up sheds and covering with brush and marking with gps. Then come May 1st they have their pile of sheds

Gate was locked when I went by. My understanding was that you could not access that road for anything until after May 1.

I thought the left was open, but :dunno:, I don’t bother with it.

The left side of the gate up Oak Creek Road is open and that was my partner and I up there on the mountain bikes... We have already pulled 17 sheds in 4 days of going... and another key is that the Oak Creek and Bethel Ridge area is only closed from March 1st until May 1st...

Yep! Left side is open. A lot of people just assume people are sneaking in when using that road for access. Here’s a little info for you, elk don’t just shed in the closed area, and not everyone parked there is up to no good.

Good for you, knowing the rules. I would hate to see someone get jammed up by arm chair wardens.

Not an arm chair warden. Stopped and read the sign last Friday. Says closed March and April. Is my onx wrong showing both sides of oak Creek as part of the wildlife area? If I'm wrong I apologize, but I've always been told and read otherwise.

Your onx is correct but not all of the oak creek wildlife area is closed, just a small portion
