Around the Chewelah area where my dad is. His camp has 3 Toms down, 2 of those are by youth hunters. Lots of bird activity in the area.

No luck for my hunter in Evans.  Some activity on the roost very little on the ground.  Super quiet.  No gobbling even in the evening while going to roost.  Usually going ape during 6 to sunset.  Nothing.

We tagged out in ne Washington, got lucky calling 4 toms in, took 3 days but had a great time, can’t wait till next year.

The turkeys that had my attention the last couple days only gobbled on the roost and wanted nothing to do with my calling. They also have a lot of hens with them. I pattered them and set up some ambushes that almost paid off. I think I'm going to look for some younger and dumber turkeys next week.

Left Thursday for the NE. Friday at 6:30 my partner had one of his biggest birds. His shot blew the bird I had coming in. 2:30 Friday afternoon I got one of my bigger birds I’ve taken. Passed on several Jakes and had another opportunity blown this morning when someone shot on the ridge next to me. Lots of birds, tons of hens. They are talking, just not super aggressive Had a great 4 days.

 Yup, I had my pin set on 30 yards and after the shot I ranged it at 32.5 yards.  That old saying is very true.

I used to bow hunt without a blind a lot. Usually when I drew they would run straight away and if I aimed at the head I would hit right between wings center back it would tack them to the ground. If they didn’t run I would still take that same shot if possible.i ended up not having anymore fly aways

Tuesday and Wednesday were good days for me and my bro in NE corner. Called in 3 separate solo toms between 9 am and 12 pm (2 on Tuesday, 1 on Wednesday). They were mostly silent in the mornings and evenings, but great gobbling action late mornings when the toms separated..

I made it out Saturday and the boys were pretty vocal.  Had 7 or 8 birds going in various spots, one group I'm certain was three or four jakes.  I could hear hens with them as well.  thought I had one tom coming in and then the skies opened up and it just poured and all conversation stopped.  Later on as the rain started to subside I saw to longbeards across the canyon and they gobbled back, but they were not crossing the creek and coming up my side.  Should be a lot of fun this season!!

I'm out right now in the Colville National Forest. Had one going crazy Sunday night when I pulled in to camp. Chatted with him the next morning at first light. He flew onto the ridge he was roosted on and promptly shut up. Haven't had a gobble since. Couldn't roost any last night. I've been walking around since sunrise without any responses. I'm sitting midway up a ridge practising my slate and mouth calls. Plenty of ticks if anyone is hunting those.
