The wife wants a digital SLR to replace her film SLR. I'm looking for suggestions.

Not really any buget, if momma wants it momma gets it. That being said, maybe a couple grand? I like bargins, and always carry cash, so a good used rig would be great, I just have no idea what to look for in a good camera, I have a small cannon powershot s70 for me and it works for me, but she wants more?
