What happened to the Triploid trout stock

Specifically what triploid trout program did they cut??  What Region?  Never heard of this. 

Statewide. Not a single triploid is listed to be stocked in any region of washington this year according to the 2019 stocking plan report.

This is not true, WDFW WILL be planting triploids all over the state.  Are you talking about the "trophy trout program" the legislature pays for? 
Example.......Pend Orielle county only gets triploid trout.

Legislatures dont even pay for their own lunch.......tax payers foot the bill, and then some.

Plenty of Triploids being planted in Okanogan county lakes. Rufus Woods only gets Triploids....100% supplied by the Colville Tribe, WDFW has never planted Rufus!

Well my club buys thousands of eggs. For high lakes and they get shipped to the state hatchery. They only give the ok on our input of the cycle and number of fish planted. So it's not like they kick any money in on that program.

True according to wdfw 2019 trout and stocking plan report on there website. My post is in regards to wdfw stocking plans. Thats not saying there isn't going to be private stocks or tribal stocking. Go to the WDFW we site and look at the current year plan. I just read the facts that are in print. I dont just say things to say things. Also have been associated with some of the hatchery programs in the south sound and they are not on contract with triploid stocking this year with wdfw as they were in the past. Thats not saying there wont be a jumbo category of trout stocked but no sterile triploids are on schedule.

If you are looking for projected stocking information, from WDFW, look at the information in the FBD (Future Brood Document). The link below provides the stocking and planting goals for all lake plants, from WDFW. In the memo notes, at the bottom of each page, it states how many Rainbow being planted are Dips (Diploids) or Trips (Triploids).

Always use the Future brood.  More Triploids than you can count are going to be stocked!  It is my understanding the program that may be cut is the trophy trout program.  This is a very small amount of larger fish spread out over many lakes. 

BTW a triploid trout is nothing special and does not always equal a larger trout.

I was looking at my local lakes in Skagit and have been use to catching some big triploids in the winter. I noticed that none was stocked last year only jumbos. Looked at other counties and found the same results everywhere. So I want more info and contacted WDFW. Only tribale or private will stock triploids.

Triploid trout are expensive to raise and really are not that great. They really don't do well in most west-side lake.The Kamloops and Donaldson rainbows would do much better and be a cheaper option for the state. But at this point have little faith they'll do the right thing even if they do raise license fee's.

A Rainbow triploid could just be like any other rainbow.  Not associated with any certain strain.  The eggs have just been shocked using heat or pressure, which then make a regular ole rainbow sterile.  WDFW also triploids kokanee.  There is no physical difference between a diploid or triploid.  WDFW plants triploids in lakes or streams that could be impacted by a hatchery diploid.  Example is Pend Orielle county which only recieves triploids

Most Okanogan County Lakes have been planted with Triploids this spring (paid for and raised by Douglas PUD). These are Steelhead / Kamloops stock, not Spokane or Goldendale (which is what the state uses). This stock produces awesome trout!
