Hey Gang, we had our Region 5 Hunter Ed IST on Saturday at the new facility in Ridgefield. Nice facility. I did notice they weren't flying the POW/MIA flag, required by state law. RCW 1.20.017: Display of national league of families' POW/MIA flag. I'm certainly not going to bust someone's chops over this but I will follow through to make sure the flag is flown. It is required to be flown with the US and WA State flags on any public entity, including schools. I have a personal connection to this cause so it makes a difference to me. Check to see if the flag is flown on the poles outside our public buildings and if it isn't, take the time to make sure they know about this RCW.  Thanks,
PMan.

I support flying the flag, but it is only specifically required on a number of days.

Quote
Each public entity must display the national league of families' POW/MIA flag along with the flag of the United States and the flag of the state upon or near the principal building of the public entity on the following days: (a) Former Prisoners of War Recognition Day on April 9th; (b) Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day on March 30; (c) Armed Forces Day on the third Saturday in May; (d) Memorial Day on the last Monday in May; (e) Flag Day on June 14; (f) Independence Day on July 4; (g) National Korean War Veterans Armistice Day on July 27; (h) National POW/MIA Recognition Day on the third Friday in September; (i) Veterans' Day on November 11th; and (j) Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day on December 7th. If the designated day falls on a Saturday or Sunday, then the POW/MIA flag must be displayed on the preceding Friday.

Thanks for pointing that out. Most of the public buildings I see fly them all the time. I wish all of them would. Thanks for the correction, Knocker. I needed that.

Ditto and you’re welcome.

I’m sure soon there will be a SMC (Seattle Municipal Code) requiring a diversity flag and a color guard of unicorns.

There isn't already?

There just isn't time in the day to get all the important legislation that Seattle needs passed all at once.   There is wide spread support for this proposal and the city council is at present negotiating with the union representing the unicorns.  A sticking point is that the union has pointed out that unicorns don't really exist but the city council is adamant that they recieve the minimum wage of pet projects of $120K/year.
